Respond to: Annoying Ways People Use Sources

All the annoying ways people use sources that Kyle Stedman gave as examples are true. One of them I can agree the most with is the "armadillo roadkill". I agree with it the most because it is the one I would always look for and be careful with personally. This annoyance is about when someone uses quotations out of nowhere or in no context. The quotations used are surprising to the reader because they are not introduced or further explained. This is why and they are explained in the text they use the words "buh-BUMP". With this they try to help us visualize that an armadillo came on the street in front of a car and no one saw it till it got hit. The same way in a text nobody thought quotations are coming untill after they already saw them. Another easy to understand example of this annoyance would be when you are watching a UFC fight and one guy keeps having dominance over the other, but then out of nowhere the "losing" guy finds power, turn things around and he is the one in power now. Again it happened out of nowhere, no one suspected this to happen.

Personally I would probably look for "Uncle Barry and his encyclopedia of useless information" the most. This annoyance is the one that I catch myself doing the most, both in writing and verbally. I would always start a topic and give quotations from bunch of places to show knowledge of the specific information, and by the end I would be lost from the use of too much information. According to Kyle Stedman the way to fix this would be to simply "return to each quotation and decide why it's there and then massage it in accordingly."

If I would have to personally rank the annoyance from most annoying till least by different perspectives my rankings would not change much. I believe that I would keep the same rankings because this would be the annoying ways that I would be seeing the most. This would be the ones that as a reader no matter my position people would be using the most. My rankings would go: Armadillo Roadkill, Dating Spider-Man, I swear I did some research, Am I in the Right Movie, I can't find the stupid link, and Uncle Barry and his encyclopedia of useless information.
