One of the things Melissa Goldthwaite talks about is research for writing. In this section she explains how she would do research when she needs to write a piece of paper. She talks how she would grasp information from different sources around her. Here she gives personal examples, like: ticket stubs from concerts, movies, and the ballet, scraps of papers, restaurant napkins with ideas on them. She keeps all of these in a shoebox, in case some day she needs it for any purpose, like research. One question she mentions in here is when she talks to other writers. She would ask them for examples of how they do research.
Another thing she talks about is research for learning. This section is important because here we gather information and research that we learn from. It also speaks about how writers present the information they learned to others. She gives examples of Maureen Stanton and Kristina Emick, and what they used when conducting their researches. She asks questions like: what different categories have in common?
In my last project I used research for inspiration. I was researching a familiar environment. For inspiration I researched information about the house I used to live in.
