Peer Profile Interview

The person that I chose to interview was Sophie Sweeney. Sophie is a second semester freshman in Florida State University (FSU). Currently she is majoring in Information Technology (IT). This major was not Sophie’s first choice. When she first came to FSU her major of choice was Psychology. Even though she enjoyed the psychology related classes she ended up taking at the university she decided that this major was not the perfect fit for her. After having a talk with her parents, which both have technology related careers, they advised her to try and take a few classes in technology. To Sophie’s surprise she ended up liking this classes more than she liked the psychology ones, so she decided to change her major to Information Technology.

Florida State University was not Sophie’s first choice of school. The main reason she is currently a college student here is because the tuition price was much better for her since it is considered in-state tuition. One of her top choices would have been somewhere outside the state of Florida. Even though she is currently in school in Florida, she has hopes that in the future she would transfer to an out of state university and then continue her education somewhere else for Grad school.

Sophie currently lives on campus dorms. She lives in a triple dorm. One of the people she lives with is an old friend of hers from her home city of Boca Raton, FL. They both went to the same High School, which is how they knew each other originally. Since they learned that they are both going to the same school, they immediately knew they have to be something more than friends, they have to be roomates. When they were both filling in the housing applications somehow they both ended up checking the wrong box. Instead of checking they want to live in a double dorm, they ended up checking for a triple. This is why when their current third roommate called them one day to introduce herself they did not know what was happening. All of this was a shock to Sophie but now she is grateful they made this mistake because now she has one more friend on campus.

Sophie likes the way Florida State’s campus looks like. She enjoys walking through campus on a sunny day. One of her favourite part of the outside of campus would be the palm trees she sees that would remind her of her home city. She also enjoys going to the FSU gym on her free time. She loves working out and she really likes the machines at the gym. Sophie likes to be outdoors but her number one priority in Tallahassee is having good academics. Everything else for her comes on a second place. She really enjoys following a strict schedule every day. Despite the majority students on college campuses all around the nation Sophie is not a procrastinator, which is why she has been able to stick so good to her daily schedule and routines.
